YOU ARE HERE - HOME - How to Bay Park

How to bay park.

Bay parking can be a difficult manoeuvre however with a few simple steps it can also be the easiest. To complete the manoeuvre successfully you must reverse park into a bay keeping the car within the lines, whilst keeping up effective observations here's how its done.

  1. Pull up alongside the bays in the center of the road with your car straight and squared to the bays.
  2. Drive to the third line past the pay you are wanting to park in and stop with the third line half way down either the passenger window or the drivers (dependent on which side you wish to park i'll describe it to the left)
  3. Select reverse and do all round checks including blind spots.
  4. Moving slowly backwards turn full lock to the left (1 and 1/4 turns)
  5. Keep up observation around the car as you are approaching the bay you should be slightly closer to the left (passenger side) if so take off 1/4   a turn. If not leave your steering on full lock (basic rule if you want the back to go left turn left if you want it to go right turn right).
  6. As you come parallel in the bay straighten you wheels.
  7. Reverse back looking out the back and keeping an eye on your mirrors until you are about half a meter from the back of the bay and stop and secure your car.

This procedure is exactly the same to the left or right just remember to line up to the side you want and turn the direction you want to go with the back of the car.
